...Sitting on the Bhutan-China border, Gangkhar Puensum is said to be the highest mountain in the world that has yet to be summited. There were a few failed attempts in the 1980s but those are likely the last since Bhutan prohibited any climbing of mountains above 20,000 feet due to religious beliefs in 1994. The mountain's name means “White Peak of the Three Spiritual Brothers.”
