They appeared on "The Ed Sullivan Show" in February 1964 to start what's now called "The British Invasion". "Imagine" (1971) was released during his post-Beatle solo career, and the title track is one of his more famous songs. Lennon was shot and killed outside his New York City apartment on December 8, 1980.
