Other natural resources include coal, oil, phosphates, iron, limestone and gold. Livestock is another major export product for Niger, but the total revenue from livestock sales isn't known as many transactions are conducted informally by Nigeriens moving their herds into neighboring countries. The raising of livestock, unfortunately, contributes to some of the threats facing Niger due to overgrazing, soil erosion and desertification caused by the herds.
