[Answer] What is lava called before it comes out of a volcano?

Step 1 : Introduction to the question "What is lava called before it comes out of a volcano?"

...Volcanic eruptions send a mixture of liquid rock, crystals and dissolved gas onto the Earth's surface. Once expelled from the volcano, this molten rock mixture is known as lava. Before it makes an appearance on the surface, it is called magma. There are three general types of magma, each determined by its chemical composition. Magma may be basaltic, andesitic or rhyolitic. Almost all magma contains some degree of dissolved gas in the liquid. The amount of gas found in the molten mixture is determined by the chemical composition of the magma. Source: Tulane.edu
