[Answer] When did standard keyboard QWERTY layout begin?

Step 1 : Introduction to the question "When did standard keyboard QWERTY layout begin?"

...Christopher Latham Sholes wanted to improve the design of his early typewriter by making it more efficient and quicker to use. He was working for E. Remington and Sons at the time in 1873. His QWERTY layout did the trick. He noticed that the keys on his original typewriter model jammed easily, so he changed the order to spread out the more commonly used pairs of letters. His new design was named the Remington typewriter and hit the market for consumer consumption in 1874. Though there are other alternative keyboard designs available, the QWERTY layout remains the standard and most popular. Source: LiveScience.com
