Elton John Lloyd Webber wrote the music and Tim Rice the lyrics for the hugely successful shows of 'Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat' (1967), 'Jesus Christ Superstar' (1970) and 'Evita' (1976). He collaborated with the two male members of the group ABBA on 'Chess' (1984) and shared lyric writing duties with Howard Ashman on 'Beauty and the Beast' (1994) with Menken providing the music. As well as 'The Lion King' in 1997, Rice and Sir Elton also worked together on 'Aida' in 2000.
