Step 1 : Introduction to the question "What is a cobweb?"
...Irregular, tangled webs known as cobwebs are the handiwork of our eight-legged friends, or spiders. The word "cobweb" may derive from the old English word "coppe," meaning spider. There are two families of spiders which make webs that become cobwebs. A cobweb is actually an abandoned spider web. Spiders migrate in response to the availability of prey. These abandoned webs eventually collect dust which makes them more visible. Many cobweb strands are nothing more than traveling spider silk, or ropes of silk that a spider launches to move around, then abandons. Source: AnimalSake.com
