...A long bow is pretty long. If you are shooting longbow your arrows and bow would most likely be made of wood. A recurve bow is probably the most common type of bow and is the only one allowed in the main section of the Olympics. Recurves may have a sight or not. If not, it is called barebow. A compound bow has wheels and pulleys at the end of each limb. The idea behind the bow is that normal poundage is needed until about half way through the draw and then the pressure lets up making it easier to hold at full draw and aim.
