There are over half a dozen sequels in the "Nightmare" canon, as well as a 2010 remake from Platinum Dunes. "Scanners" is a David Cronenberg film from 1981 about psychics, "Darkness Falls" is a 2003 film about an evil Tooth Fairy, and "The People Under the Stairs", though directed by Wes Craven, is a 1991 release.
