Step 1 : Introduction to the question "Which is the only Vincent Van Gogh painting to sell during his lifetime?"
Considered among the greatest painters of all time, Vincent Van Gogh was a Post-Impressionist artist of Dutch origins. Less than two months before severing his ear lobe, Van Gogh painted the only painting that sold during his lifetime. "The Red Vineyards at Arles” is an oil painting that depicts workers in a vineyard, and has been listed among the artist's major works. Impressionist painter and art collector Anna Boch purchased the painting for 400 Francs (about $1,000 in today's currency). Anna was the sister of Eugène Boch, another impressionist painter and a friend of Van Gogh.
