According to legend, Uther Pendragon was so infatuated with another man's wife that he convinced the Wizard Merlin to use magic to deceive the woman. Merlin transformed Uther to look like Duke Gorlois of Cornwall, husband to Igraine. Uther visited Igraine when Gorlois was away and fathered a son - Arthur Pendragon. Legend says Arthur would pull the legendary sword Excalibur from the stone to become Britain's greatest King.
