The book made its debut on the big screen in 1977. Harris introduced the world to Hannibal Lector in his book "Red Dragon" in 1981. His blockbuster novel, "the Silence of the Lambs," continued the tale of Lector in 1988. It was also made into a movie, sweeping the Academy Awards in 1991.
