It has been proved that we can exist on our planet without excess pollution, and unless we make efforts now some features may not be recoverable. Ever. It is estimated that of all the species that have inhabited Earth, approximately 98% are now extinct. The primary method of extinction for the dinosaurs and other life forms is thought to be a meteorite that slammed into the area that is now northern Mexico about 65 million years ago. Most other extinct species were either hunted to death or were unable to adapt to changing climate and/or geographical mutations. Some simply lost their habitats. Genocide is the killing of an ethnic group. Liberticide is the destruction of freedom. Geronticide is the custom of allowing the aged to die when they are no longer able to care for or provide for themselves. This is not killing per se, but is a custom practiced by many Inuit tribes, as the elderly will go outside and "sleep in the snow".
