Step 1 : Introduction to the question "1. Poached for ivory I wander across the plains living with my herd What am I?"
...1. Rhinoceros 2. Elephant 3. Water buffalo 4. Gnu Elephants are the largest living land mammal. Found in Africa and Asia they live in mainly female herds, always headed by a matriach. Young males are excluded from the group when they reach breeding age, and will sometimes form small groups of young bulls. Once they reach full maturity, the males will become solitary wanderers coming to the herds only at breeding time. The ivory in elephant's tusks is sought after in the Far East, and they have suffered greatly from poaching. There are now laws about trading in ivory which have helped protect the elephant population, but poaching still continues. Question by Christinap
