Step 1 : Introduction to the question "What country invented the Piña Colada?"
...If you like piña coladas and getting caught in the rain, you can thank Puerto Rico. Meaning "strained pineapple" in Spanish, the piña colada was declared the drink of Puerto Rico in 1978. Though the rum-based drink was born in Puerto Rico, the original creator is debated. One popular claim is that bartender Ramon “Monchito” Marrero served the first piña colada at the Beachcombers Bar in 1954. Despite its fuzzy origins, piña coladas are now enjoyed by people all over the world.
