...At the time of his death, Michelangelo continued to indulge in his true love: sculpture. While he spent most of his later years supervising the construction of St. Peter's Basilica, he remained at home when he became too weak to visit the work site. He continued working in his home studio, chiseling away on his sculpture "Rondanini Pieta." This final work depicted one of his favorite subjects: the dying Jesus in the arms of the Virgin Mary.
