The three "Back to the Future" movies came out in 1985, 1989, and 1990 respectively. In 1991, he was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. He then created the Michael J. Fox Foundation in 2000. The purpose of the foundation is to find a cure for Parkinson's through research. Despite his illness, Fox continues to act, mostly as a guest star or voice actor. His first two books, "Lucky Man: A Memoir" (2002) and "Always Looking Up: The adventures of an Incurable Optimist" (2009) are both about his life with Parkinson's and how he deals with it. His 2010 book, "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Future: Twists and Turns and Lessons Learned" is about his life in general and what he learned along the way.
