Step 1 : Introduction to the question "The film "Citizen Kane" was based on the life of which man?"
...Citizen Kane, now revered as one of the greatest movies in history, was released on this day in 1941. The film examines the life and legacy of Charles Foster Kane, played by Orson Welles. The character is loosely based upon the life of newspaper publishing baron William Randolph Hearst. Hearst, enraged at the unflattering portrait of himself in the film, used his massive influence to attempt to prevent the film from being released. Welles and the studio resisted the pressure, but Hearst and his Hollywood friends ultimately succeeded in pressuring theater chains to limit showings of Citizen Kane.
