On this day in 1998, Theodore J. Kaczynski plead guilty to his 17-year reign of bombings that resulted in multiple deaths and injuries originally attributed in the media to the “Unabomber.” Between 1978 and 1995, Kaczynski killed three people and injured 23 others in an attempt to start a revolution by conducting a nationwide bombing campaign targeting people involved with modern technology. Before his identity was known, the FBI used the acronym UNABOM (University and Airline Bomber) to refer to his case, which resulted in the media naming him the "Unabomber".
