...The first Thanksgiving took place in November of 1621. It was a celebration of the corn harvest for the Pilgrim settlers in the New World. The festivities lasted for three days. Chief Massasoit and his Wampanoag tribe were the honored guests at the feast. The territorial Governor, William Bradford, didn't attend but did send four settlers to hunt fowl for the celebration.
