...Born Donna Adrian Gaines, she would become known the world over as Donna Summer, the undisputed "Queen of Disco" in the 1970s and 1980s. Her debut performance came at age 10 when a scheduled singer at her church didn't show up. The priest asked Donna to sing and she blew the congregation away with her powerful, beautiful voice. Her first disco track, "Love to Love You Baby," came out in 1975 and shot to No. 2 on the charts. Her 1978 single "Last Dance" won the Best Original Song honor at the Academy Awards.
