Within an hour of its birth, the little one is standing up and tottering round and attempting its first feed from mum. The mothers only produce a small amount of milk each time, so the babies have to suckle frequently. Her milk is lower in fat and salt, but higher in phosphorus and calcium than that of a cow's milk.
