...Ralph Joseph Bunche received the Nobel Peace Prize in Oslo, Norway, in 1950. As a U.S. diplomat, Bunche served in the Office of Strategic Services and in the U.S. State Department during the 1940s. He accepted an appointment to the United Nations in 1947. There he served on a special committee tasked with seeking an end to the rising crisis brewing over Israel's movement toward independence. For his efforts in mediation toward peace in the first Arab-Israeli war, Ralph Joseph Bunche became the first African American to receive the Nobel Peace Prize. Bunche died in 1971. The modern game of North American football came about because of rules changes credited to Camp. The influence of Walter Camp manifests in the use of down, line of scrimmage, the point system, the number of players allowed and the creation of the quarterback position. His home, known as The Speaker's House, is now a museum and is currently undergoing restoration to restore its appearance during Muhlenberg's occupancy.
