Step 1 : Introduction to the question " Which tree is also known as the “upside down tree”? "
...
The Baobab tree (Adansonia digitata) sheds its leaves during the dry season hence its branches resemble roots. It is capable of storing large amounts of water in its trunk.
Its fruits and seeds are edible, while its trunk may hold as much as thousands of litres of water to act as a reservoir during the dry season. Baobabs can weigh over several hundred tons, which is equivalent to at least 14 African elephants. Growing for up to 5000 years, its trunk can grow to a diameter of 11 metres.
Legend holds that god Thora took a dislike to the Baobab growing in his garden, so he threw it out over the wall of Paradise on to Earth below, and although the tree landed upside-down it continued to grow.
