Imbolo Mbue and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie are female authors who hail, respectively, from the Republic of Cameroon and the Federal Republic of Nigeria. They found fame in the United States of America and their works highlight the unique experiences of the African diaspora in American society. Imbolo Mbue is the author of novels including "How Beautiful We Were", and "Behold the Dreamers". Behold the Dreamers (2016) earned her the 2017 PEN/Faulkner Award for Fiction, and the Blue Metropolis Words to Change Prize, and featured on Oprah’s Book Club selection. Behold the Dreamers has been translated into eleven languages, adapted into an opera and a stage play, and optioned for a movie.
Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie is an award winning and best selling author, as well as an eminent orator. Her novel 'Purple Hibiscus' won the Commonwealth Writers Prize, and "Half of A Yellow Sun" won several awards including the Women's Prize for Fiction in 2007, and was voted Best of the Best of the second decade of winners of the award.
