Step 1 : Introduction to the question " “Capital comes dripping from head to toe, from every pore, with blood and dirt.” is attributed to whom? "
...
This statement is attributed to Karl Marx (5 May 1818 - 14 March 1883), a German-born philosopher, economist, political theorist, historian, sociologist, journalist, and revolutionary socialist, which can be read in his first volume of “Das Kapital. Kritik der politischen Ökonomie” (“Capital: A Critique of Political Economy” in English, also known as “Capital”) published in 1867.
When discussing the primitive accumulation of capital, Marx wrote, “... to establish the ‘eternal laws of Nature’ of the capitalist mode of production, to complete the process of separation between labors and conditions of labor, to transform, at one pole, the social means of production and subsistence into capital, at the opposite pole, the mass of the population into wage laborers, into ‘free laboring poor’, that artificial product of modern society. If money, according to Augier, ‘comes into the world with a congenital blood-stain on one cheek’, capital comes dripping from head to foot, from every pore, with blood and dirt.”
It is an absorbing and powerful account of the iniquities and vampire-like nature of capitalism in its description and analysis of the rising industrial base of the then leading capitalist economy - Great Britain. And it is a ruthless criticism of the process of primitive accumulation of capital. The development of capitalism is actually a history of capitalism exploiting labor and strong powers plundering weak countries. This process is full of violence and blood.
