Step 2 : Answer to the question "Where can you find this pair of Art Deco statues?"
Cleveland, Ohio - These statues have stood guard over the Hope Memorial Bridge as Cleveland’s “Guardians of Traffic” since 1932. The bridge carries Cleveland’s east-west traffic over the Cuyahoga River on a 4,490-foot span made of steel and concrete. Each of its four pylons houses a pair of “guardian” sculptures, and the figures were carved from 43-foot-tall slabs of Berea sandstone from an Ohio quarry. Formerly known as the Lorain-Carnegie Bridge, the bridge was renamed in the 1980s in honor of Bob Hope’s father, William Henry Hope, who had worked on the bridge as a stone carver. In 2021, the Cleveland Major League Baseball team announced it would change its name to the Cleveland Guardians, named for these iconic statues.:
