Step 1 : Introduction to the question "1. "Today is the first day Of the rest of my life. I wake as a child To see the world begin...." or so sang a Rocky Mountain balladeer who thanked God he was a Country boy. Who was he?"
...1. Ray Wylie Hubbard 2. Townes Van Zandt 3. John Denver 4. Jerry Jeff Walker "On monarch wings And birthday wonderings. Want to put on faces. Walk in the wet and cold. And look forward to my growing old. To grow is to change. To change is to be new. To be new is to be young again. I barely remember when My memories are stolen by the morning." Born Henry John Deutschendorf, Jr. in December 1943, John Denver was a singer and songwriter who, let it be said, divided opinions. He had a number of hit songs and attracted huge audiences to his concerts, but was never seen as 'cool' in certain music circles. His career earned him 12 gold and four platinum albums and 12 Number One singles. His many noted songs included "Leaving On A Jet Plane", "Take Me Home, Country Roads", "Annie's Song" and, of course "Rocky Mountain High" (written with Mike Taylor). Denver died when an experimental plane he was flying solo crashed into the Pacific Ocean in 1997. Trivia note: None of the four mentioned was actually born in Colorado, though Denver lived there for many years.
