While locals have been steering bamboo rafts underneath the arch for centuries, Xian Ren Qiao only became known to the outside world in 2009, when a natural arch enthusiast spotted it on Google Earth. When researchers visited the site to confirm its length, the Fairy Bridge officially surpassed Utah’s 306-foot Landscape Arch, previously thought to be the world’s longest arch. :
