Step 2 : Answer to the question "Where is the narrowest house in America?"

Virginia - America’s narrowest house may look cute from the outside, but it was built entirely out of spite. In 1830, a local brickmaker and city council member named John Hollensbury owned two houses in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia, that were set apart by a narrow alleyway. Unfortunately, the alley attracted loiterers and horse-drawn carriages, which would often cut through it and collide with his homes, leaving damaging marks behind. Fed up, Hollensbury sealed off the alleyway brick by brick to spite them — creating a home that was just seven feet wide and 25 feet deep. While it almost certainly wasn’t up to code when it was built, the house has since been grandfathered in. Today, it’s known as Hollensbury Spite House on 523 Queen Street and it is privately owned. The two-story home is just 325 square feet.:
