Step 2 : Answer to the question "Where is this national monument along the Oregon Trail?"
Nebraska - Scotts Bluff stands 800 feet tall above the North Platte River and the plains of western Nebraska. Since the rocks are visible for many miles, the site served a key landmark for Native American peoples who lived in the area, as well as the more than 250,000 westward emigrants who traveled along the Oregon Trail between 1843 and 1869. It was named for Hiram Scott, an employee of Rocky Mountain Fur Company, who died near the site in 1828. Scotts Bluff National Monument features two main pillars — Sentinel Rock and Eagle Rock — on either side of Mitchell Pass. The park also includes more than 3,000 acres of surrounding land with numerous hiking trails. :
