Step 2 : Answer to the question "In which African country can you find this red dune desert?"
Namibia - Not all deserts are golden. The white, salt-and-clay pan of Namibia is located in Africa’s largest conservation area, Namib-Naukluft National Park. Known as Sossusvlei, meaning “dead-end marsh,” the area is encircled by enormous, red sand dunes reaching nearly 1,300 feet high. This is the stopping point for the Tsauchab River, as the sand dunes impede its flow to the Atlantic, resulting in a very dry salt pan. When a particularly rainy season occurs, the pan is filled by the river, creating a stunning “lake” smack dab in the middle of the dunes. It’s a sight to behold and draws many visitors to the area on the rare occasion that a lake forms in the middle of one of Earth’s driest deserts.:
