Norway - Just south of Oslo, a section of highway is interrupted by a fjord. The solution was to run a ferry across it, between the towns of Horten and Moss, but this isn't just any old boat ride. Norway began operating the world's largest electric ferry on its busiest route in 2019. The 456-foot-long vessel, Bastø Electric, carries up to 200 cars and 600 foot passengers across the fjord in just 30 minutes. The ferry can be charged at both ports, so while it's docking, it powers up rapidly. There are plans to convert the other two ships serving the route from diesel to electric power next year, so you can travel safely in the knowledge that your journey is as green as the seawater below you.:
