Brooklyn Dodgers - In 1947, first baseman Jackie Robinson made headlines as the first African American to play in Major League Baseball. Later that same year, Dan Bankhead joined him on the Brooklyn Dodgers roster as the first African American pitcher. After a year in MLB, Bankhead returned to the minors for two years. Despite another few seasons with the Dodgers in the early 1950s, he never had lasting MLB success. Bankhead went on to play eight seasons in Mexico before retiring in 1966.:
