Step 2 : Answer to the question "Who was the last active Pharaoh of Egypt?"
Cleopatra - By the time Cleopatra ascended to the throne, the Egyptian empire was on the decline. Cleopatra had relationships with Roman leaders including Julius Caesar and Marc Anthony to save her flagging dynasty, but her achievements go beyond that. She mounted an army of supporters to fight off her brother/husband Ptolemy XIII, who was competing with her for the crown. Cleopatra won over Caesar, who had Ptolemy XIII killed, and helped restore her to power in Egypt (alongside a co-ruler, her brother Ptolemy XIV). Cleopatra claimed a son by Caesar — a move that contributed to the tensions that lead to his assassination — as well as twins from Caesar's successor, Marc Anthony. Once again, this savvy maneuvering helped Cleopatra maintain her rule over Egypt. The peace between the Romans and Egypt was short-lived, however, as Octavian declared war on Cleopatra and Antony, and won. Both Marc Anthony and Cleopatra took their own lives, effectively ending Egypt's independence as it became absorbed into the Roman empire. (The son Cleopatra claimed to have had by Caesar very briefly survived, but was never an active ruler.):
