Step 1 : Introduction to the question "Elijah admonished the people of Israel for being indecisive about what?"
...The Prophet Elijah stood in front of God's people who were stuck between serving the pagan god Baal and the God of their father, Abraham. They had become comfortable serving their idols and God at the same time. When King Ahab saw Elijah coming, he asked why he was there and called him a trouble-maker. Elijah, never one to mince words, said, "I have not troubled Israel, but you have, and your father's house, because you have abandoned the commandments of the Lord and followed the Baals." A day of reckoning had come, and God was using Elijah as an instrument to force the people to make a decision. Elijah courageously stood alone for the God of Israel, facing off against 450 prophets of Baal and the indecisive people watching. They were symbolically limping between the two camps whose viewpoints were in direct opposition to one another. Elijah provoked them further, "If the Lord is God, follow him; but if Baal, then follow him." Still, the people did not respond. They would later deride and laugh at Elijah, mocking the apparent absence of God. After Elijah earnestly prayed to God, He performed a miracle that revealed the falseness of Baal. The people repented, crying out, "And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces and said, "The Lord, he is God; the Lord, he is God."
