Step 1 : Introduction to the question "What king lost his mind, went into the field, and began eating grass?"
...Nebuchadnezzar was one of the most feared kings of Babylon. He viciously destroyed Jerusalem, desecrated their sacred place of worship, and forced them into exile. Nebuchadnezzar was a prideful and arrogant king, and built grand structures in honor of himself. The word of God had previously come to him through Daniel's interpretation of the king's dream. It was a warning for the king to recognize God as sovereign, to begin practicing righteousness, and to show mercy to the oppressed. If he did those things, his days of prosperity would remain. If not, he would be driven away from people to become like a grazing ox in the field. He chose the latter. One day he was walking atop his palace, bragging on himself and marveling at the glory of his majesty. At that moment, God's voice spoke from heaven, repeating the prophecy. "Immediately the word was fulfilled against Nebuchadnezzar. He was driven from among men and ate grass like an ox, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven till his hair grew as long as eagles' feathers, and his nails were like birds' claws" (Daniel 4:33). For seven years, he remained this way. Instantly upon his restoration, Nebuchanezzar acknowledged his pridefulness and lifted his voice in praise to God.
