The chamber features seats arranged in a horseshoe pattern, plus a parabolic steel roof. The structures primarily use local, sustainable materials, and are set on an artificial lake that helps keep things cool. Architect Louis Kahn said he found inspiration for the design in Scottish castles and ancient European ruins, although the geometric forms are abstracted versions of shapes found in traditional Bengali culture. :
