Step 1 : Introduction to the question "After Jesus healed 10 lepers, how many returned to thank him?"
...Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem when he passed through Samaria and Galilee. Ten lepers, who were considered the outcasts of the city, cried out to Jesus to heal them. Jesus, not touching them, instructed them to present themselves to the priests to affirm their healing. As they went, they were healed. The one who happened to be a Samaritan, a non-Jew that Jesus identified as a foreigner, was the only one who, upon seeing that he was healed, returned to thank Jesus. Jesus wondered aloud why he was the only one to express gratitude. There are two points of significance one can glean from this passage. First, Jesus stood among his own people, and they did not fully recognize him as they should have. The only one who was outside of the covenant, a Gentile, was the one who recognized him fully as God. Secondly, God expects us to return to give Him thanks, appreciation, and praise for His wonderful ways. He is God, and a simple thank you can effectively communicate our appreciation for the great things He has done for us.
