Indonesia - The Borobudur Temple Compounds, located in Central Java, Indonesia, is a massive Buddhist monument that was built during the reign of the Sailendra Dynasty, in the 8th and 9th centuries. The design represents the spiritual journey toward enlightenment, as it is divided into three ascending levels, which lead to the majestic stupa. The temple has seen a lot in its 1,000+ years of existence. It was buried under volcanic ash and subsequently overgrown with vegetation before Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles rediscovered it in 1814. Two major restorations took place, the first from 1907–1911 and the second in 1983. UNESCO added it to its World Heritage Sites list in 1991.\n:
