Step 1 : Introduction to the question "In the New Testament, Paul planted, God gave growth, but who watered?"
...There is plenty of work to be done in God’s garden of church ministry. Paul was irritated with God’s people for losing sight of God himself and bragging about which teacher they followed. “I follow Paul,” some said. “Well, I follow Apollos!” others shouted. Still others claimed Peter or even Christ. Their quarreling was causing division in the church. Apollos was a preacher who ministered in the towns of Corinth and Ephesus. Paul rebuked the people for their jealousy and strife and said what they were really following was their flesh. Paul, Peter, and Apollos were all mere workers, as God had assigned each of them to be. “I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth.” Christian workers are co-laborers who belong to God, and God alone is responsible for the success of his garden.
