Step 2 : Answer to the question "What state is nicknamed \"The Yellowhammer State\"?"

Alabama - Alabama has been (unofficially) known as \"The Yellowhammer State\" since the Civil War, according to State Symbols USA. The nickname was coined when a company of soldiers from Huntsville, Alabama, arrived in Kentucky with brand-new uniforms adorned with bits of bright yellow cloth. Local legend has it that as they walked past another company of soldiers, someone yelled out, \"Yellowhammer, yellowhammer, flicker, flicker!\" Yellowhammer is also the colloquial name for the northern flicker woodpecker, which is the state bird. Of course, \"The Yellowhammer State\" isn't Alabama's only nickname. Others include \"The Cotton State\" and \"The Heart of Dixie.\" You may also have heard the phrase, \"Stars Fell on Alabama,\" which has been on Alabama license plates since 2002. Those four words came from a song written in 1934 by Mitchell Parish and Frank Perkins, later made famous by various well-known singers such as Frank Sinatra. :
