Step 2 : Answer to the question "Who committed the first murder?"

Cain - Mere paragraphs after Adam and Eve are created in Paradise, they disobeyed God and sin entered the world. A few paragraphs after that, one of their sons ended up dead, murdered by his own brother. Cain, the firstborn, was a farmer, and Abel, the second son, was a shepherd. When the time came for them to bring an offering to the Lord, they each brought a gift from the first fruits of the ground and the flock, respectively. God was entitled to the first and best that each had to offer. God could see into their hearts and understood that Abel was a righteous man, but Cain was not. God did not accept Cain’s offering because his heart was hard against God. At this, Cain was consumed with jealousy and rage. Even in this moment, God still offers redemption. “If you do well, will you not be accepted?” he asks. “And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door.” But Cain is unable to rule over his sin, and he kills his brother in the field, committing the first recorded murder in the Bible.:
