Step 2 : Answer to the question "Which governor of Judah was called by God to rebuild the Temple?"
Zerubbabel - There are cool Bible names, and then there’s Zerubbabel, son of Shealtiel. Zerubbabel was the governor of Judah. The Lord stirred up his spirit and caused him to come and rebuild the Temple. The prophet, Haggai, came to Zerubbabel multiple times with messages from God about the rebuilding project. As the governor, he had to initiate the project, along with the High Priest, Joshua son of Jehozadak. The fact that Solomon’s beautiful temple had been destroyed was a source of discouragement for everyone, but Zerubbabel was faithful to obey God. In fact, in Haggai 2:23, God told him that he would make Zerubbabel “like a signet ring.” The term “signet ring” is used elsewhere to designate someone who is precious to God (Jeremiah 22:24). This demonstrated the power and authority God was bestowing on him. The prophecy described how God would overthrow the military and political powers that wouldn’t submit to his will. Zerubbabel was chosen to accomplish the Lord’s work. He foreshadowed Christ, who would also come to accomplish God’s work, this time completely.:
