Step 2 : Answer to the question "How did Jacob's son Joseph end up in an Egyptian jail?"
Potiphar's wife accused him unjustly - Joseph was sold to an Egyptian named Potiphar, who was the captain of Pharaoh’s guard. The Lord was with Joseph, and he became a successful man and was a servant in Potiphar’s house. Potiphar saw that everything Joseph did was blessed and he made him his overseer. He left all that he had in Joseph’s charge. Now, Potiphar’s wife saw that Joseph was very handsome; the Bible says she “cast her eyes” on him and invited him to a tryst, but Joseph refused. Day after day he ignored her advances. One day, she grabbed him by his clothing and insisted that he lie with her. Joseph twisted desperately out of her grasp and ran, leaving his garment behind! She immediately called out for the men of her household and accused Joseph of attacking her. Potiphar, angry at this alleged betrayal, had Joseph thrown into prison. Even in this, the Lord was with Joseph, protecting him from a death sentence and giving him favor with the jailor. Joseph was put in charge of all the prisoners and the jailor paid no attention to anything that was in Joseph’s charge because whatever he did, the Lord made it succeed.:
