[Answer] Which U.S. state is the most rectangular?

Step 1 : Introduction to the question "Which U.S. state is the most rectangular?"

...1. Colorado 2. Kansas 3. Wyoming 4. North Dakota

Step 2 : Answer to the question "Which U.S. state is the most rectangular?"

Wyoming - It’s always fun to look at a map of the United States and watch the borders get more and more regular. The farther west you go, the more straight lines you see. Wyoming is the perfect example. When the state was first plotted by Congress, it followed the latitude and longitude lines on most maps. Being that it was the 19th century, the process wasn’t perfect, which is why there’s a discrepancy between the lines and borders on the modern day map, but they got pretty close. Also, if you really want to be technical about things, Wyoming isn’t a rectangle because the world is round. That means there’s a little bit of a curve to the state lines. But on a map, it’s close enough. While Colorado was intended to be rectangular, due to the curvature of the Earth, the lines of longitude aren't actually straight. That, plus some guesswork made when plotting the state lines around rivers and canyons, make Wyoming more rectangular.:
