Step 2 : Answer to the question "What does John say is the purpose of his Gospel? “These are written so ______.” "

That you may believe - As a writer, John didn't mince words. He was purposeful with everything he wrote. Toward the end of his Gospel, John tells us that Jesus gave many other signs that are not recorded in that book. He says that if every one of these things were written down, the world itself could not contain the number of books that it would take! John tells us that these specific events, teachings, and stories were recorded so that we may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the son of God. And through that believing, that we may have life in his name. Acts 10:43 tells us that everyone who believes in Christ receives forgiveness through his name. And earlier in the book of John we read that God so loved the world that He sent His only son, Jesus, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life. God sent His son into the world to save it. The book of Revelation, which is traditionally believed to have also been authored by John, ends this way: “The Spirit and the Bride say, ‘Come.’ And let the one who hears say, ‘Come.’ And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who desires take the water of life without price (Revelation 22:17).”:
