Step 2 : Answer to the question "What did Pocahontas change her name to after she converted to Christianity? "
Rebecca - The historic Native American figure Pocahontas was known by many names. At her birth (circa 1596), she was given the name Amonute and more personal name of Matoaka. Along with those monikers, her nickname was actually “Pocahontas,” meaning “playful one.” According to the National Park Service, her famous story traces back to the 1600s where she acted as a peacemaker between her native Powhatan tribe and English colonists. She saved John Smith’s life, and later was taken captive at Jamestown. She then converted to Christianity and changed her name to the biblical “Rebecca.” As a Christian convert and Native American, she was seen as a symbol for religious conversion and interracial conversation in England and between the colonies. It did not last long, however, because she passed away soon after in March of 1617. Her legacy still stands as a peacemaker.:
