Step 2 : Answer to the question "How much total money is in a standard Monopoly game?"
$20,580 - Since 2008, standard editions of the popular board game include 30 of each of its seven denominations of money, ranging from $1 to $500 bills, for a grand total of $20,580 sitting in the bank. While players may feel like they're being robbed of their colorful currency when they land on an opponent's property, they don't have cause to be as aggrieved as its true creator. The Parker Brothers credit its creation to Charles Darrow, an unemployed salesman who brought them the game in 1935 and subsequently became a millionaire. In reality, the game dates back to 1903 when Lizzie Magie created what she called the Landlord's Game to teach people about the perils of capitalism run amok. She had a patent and published it through the Economic Game Company, but its popularity was limited largely to intellectuals and Quakers who added their own flourishes and rules to the game over the years. Later, after speaking out publicly, Magie went on to make other games for Parker Brothers, but they were never hits and she was only ever given $500 for her patent. She never received royalties or any official recognition for creating the game that became Monopoly.:
