Step 2 : Answer to the question "Where did the Apollo 11 crew land upon their return to Earth?"
Pacific Ocean - When the Apollo 11 crew first set foot on the moon, Neil Armstrong famously said that it was “One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind”. On his return to Earth, Armstrong should of mentioned that his landing was “one giant splash for mankind”. That’s because rather than landing back at Cape Canaveral like shuttle missions would later do, the Apollo 11 capsule landed far away from Florida — thousands of miles away, in fact, in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. On July 24, 1969, the Apollo 11 crew successfully returned to Earth when their capsule splashed down 900 miles southwest of Hawaii and only 12 nautical miles from the recovery ship. Because of the uncertainty of the crew coming back from space, all three crew members had to remain in quarantine for 21 days to ensure they did not bring back any biological organisms or pathogens from their trip.:
